It was a warm summer Happy Hour when 4 couples gathered on my patio overlooking the golf course for Dr. John's 'Old World vs New World' value red wine tasting. Although John has traveled throughout and sipped in old world Europe, he promised no wines over $30. Knowing that I was NOT a red wine drinker, he thoughtfully included two sparklings.
The red wine samples included Bordeaux style and Syrahs featuring a nice little Walla Wall gem. The sparkling stars included a Prosecco and a Cava with 'candied lemon notes.' Yum. The perfect patio wine.
Dr John provided all the glassware we went through as well as tasting notes. Gratefully, no one had to spend the night as each guest contributed substantial finger food.
Thanks Dr. John for a delightful evening. When can we anticipate an encore?
