Perfect Pour Rx October 2026
Cooler weather approaches and so do our wine and food recommendations.
Best Buys: White: Sauvignon Blanc (USA) $12-$18. SB is made all over the world and has different styles. Most USA versions are crisp, citrus and herbal notes, medium to high acidity, and can be either very clean or even have a little oak. These wines pair beautifully with Seafood, fresh cheeses, Asian foods and herb-rich foods. French and New Zealand SB’s are very different
Red: Merlot (USA) $15-$25 This grape is also grown all over the world and is often paired with Cabernet. It is smooth, less tannic , has good fruit and spice flavors and pairs well with many everyday foods as well as fine dining. Think Burgers, pasta, roast chicken, charcuterie and chocolate.
Splurge Buy: Long Shadows Pedestal Merlot ($75). Outstanding Washington grown Merlot with great flavors and good aging potential. A real treat.
Hidden Gem: Chateau Ste. Michelle Columbia Valley Merlot $13
Suggested Food Pairings: Burgers, Pizza, chocolate and easy drinking.
